I am Md Akbar Hossain Juman, the Founder and CEO of CancerAid Network Bangladesh—a foundation born out of personal adversity and driven by a vision to bring hope and support to those affected by cancer.
My journey began when my father was diagnosed with cancer—a moment that profoundly changed my life. During this difficult period, I became acutely aware of the emotional, logistical, and financial struggles that cancer patients and their families endure. Navigating the healthcare system felt overwhelming, especially without proper guidance or support. This experience opened my eyes to the pressing need for a platform that could ease the burdens of others facing similar battles.
Motivated by compassion and a desire to make a difference, I established CancerAid Network. What started as a small, grassroots networking effort has now grown into a structured, nationwide foundation. Today, CancerAid Network Bangladesh is a growing platform committed to empowering cancer patients, caregivers, survivors, and advocates through connection, education, emotional support, and access to vital resources.
Our foundation works tirelessly to create awareness, break the stigma surrounding cancer, and ensure no patient ever feels isolated. We offer a digital support network, emotional counseling, information on treatment facilities, survivor stories, and practical guidance tailored for the realities of cancer care in Bangladesh.
Alongside my work with CancerAid, I am also pursuing my professional career as an International Service Holder in Japan. My role abroad has broadened my global perspective and deepened my understanding of diverse healthcare systems, community engagement models, and nonprofit leadership. These insights have been instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of CancerAid and in exploring ways we can integrate global best practices into our work locally.
My mission is simple yet deeply rooted in faith and empathy: to ensure that every cancer patient knows they are not alone. Through CancerAid Network, we strive to be a beacon of hope, compassion, and resilience. As I often say, “At the end of the day, everything is in the hands of Allah—we are merely the means.” It is this guiding belief that fuels my commitment every single day.
